Charity work

We want to support good causes – it’s part of our basic values and social responsibilities. Some examples of our current and past commitments include:

Oxfam – Bring Bring Scheme

Oxfam Logo

Mobiles.co.uk's Oxfam Page

We have supported Oxfam’s Bring Bring handset recycling scheme since January 2006, raising over £3,500 to date.

We include an invitation to recycle with every mobile phone order and customers can contribute by returning unwanted handsets in the pre-paid return bags. These handsets are resold or recycled generating an income for Oxfam. It’s the simplicity of the scheme which makes it so attractive. It’s also good for the planet.

If you'd like to request a freepost recycling bag to donate your old handset to Oxfam, please click here.

In just ten months, Mobiles.co.uk's recycling scheme has collected over 470 handsets and raised over £3,500 for Oxfam's work overseas.  This amount could pay for training for 41 healthworkers, and provide a six month supply of essential medicines for 20 villages.  So you can see that, in the few minutes that it would take you to find and send in your mobile for recycling, you could make a real and lasting difference.

Charity Mobiles

CharityMobiles Logo

We support a number of charities by providing them with a virtual web mobile phone store linked from their own websites. Charity supporters can participate by placing an order on the website and the selected charity earns a donation from the transaction.

It’s a great way for individuals to get the right mobile phone offer and make a contribution to a good cause.

Charity Mobiles have provided us with a simple method of fund raising which costs our supporters nothing and requires very little effort on our part. We also have the confidence of working with a well established and reliable supplier.

Macmillan Cancer Support

Macmillan's Website: www.macmillan.org.uk

Macmillan is our preferred local charity. They do a great job and we know this because they have helped support relatives and friends of our staff. We really appreciate the job they do.

Twice a year we raffle any gifts the company receives. During 2006 we raised a total of £700, which for a company of 30 staff, we’re pleased about.

Thank you for your donation of £455, raised through your summer raffle and sponsored walk. Please pass on our thanks to all those involved in raising this generous amount. This gift will help fund our increasing range of services, including our Macmillan nurses, doctors and other health and social care professionals, new cancer care centres, a range of cancer information services, practical help at home and help with money.

ALMA Hospital Trust

The Alma Hospital Trust Website: www.almatrust.org

Mobiles.co.uk has supported the ALMA Hospital Trust since 2001. This project was inspired by Mohammed Younis MBE who has been the driving force in raising funds to build a hospital in Hafizabad, Pakistan. Mobiles.co.uk pledged £1 per mobile phone to this good cause and has donated in excess of £10,000.

At The Alma Hospital Trust we count ourselves very fortunate to have had the backing of Mobiles.co.uk for many years. In the early days of the charity the fantastic genorosity of the team at Mobiles played a vital role in helping us to get the project off the ground and they have been with us every step of the way since. Although we still have much to do before the hospital in Pakistan comes into operation, the completion of the building work at the end of 2006 was a massive milestone for the charity after 12 years of hard work. We would not have reached this exciting stage of the project without the help of Mobiles.co.uk and, along with the community the hospital will serve, we feel blessed to have had their support. Thank you Mobiles !
Derek Rocholl, Alma Hospital Trust Chairman, January 2007
