Are mobile phones safe?
Following sensationalist newspaper reports, the government commissioned the Stewart Enquiry to investigate claims that mobile phone use had adverse health implications.On 11 May 2000, the Stewart Report was published which concluded that there was no evidence that mobile phones were dangerous:
"the balance of evidence does not suggest mobile phone technologies put the health of the general population of the UK at risk"
The Report also concluded that there is no threat to people living or working in the vicinity of mobile phone base stations.
