Which Mobile (part of the Which consumer magazine group) surveyed over 3000 customers and asked them to rate their experience when buying a phone online. “Ease of use” of the website, “After sales” and “Price” scored highly for and placed them as the best independent retailer in the survey. The research was conducted by Which magazines online branch due to the wealth of choice for the consumer and highlights the need for a great user experience.

The Which survey looks at both online and high street retailers. The High street retailers were judged on five key indicators, Price, Range, stock, Appropriateness of Advice and After Sales. Vodafone scored the highest with the other three major networks O2, Orange and T-mobile scoring within 1% of each other. Asda came last in the survey with Which identifying limited range of products and poor after-sales care as the contributing factors.

The online part of the survey looked at six indicators to differentiate the retailers’ websites. Ease of using website, range, stock, price, ordering process and after-sales were used to measure satisfaction. The research found O2 and Vodafone provided the best service with satisfaction scores of 59% and 57% respectively. were then placed third with a score of 57% and was four places higher then the next independent retailer The Carphone Warehouse who were placed 7th in the survey. were also rated higher than three network operators Orange, T-mobile and Tesco-mobile with “Ease of Use” and “Price” contributing to high performance.
