The digital music player is a new music player from O2 that plays music that you can download from your computer and also over the air using the GPRS network and your mobile phone. Is it available to pay monthly and prepay customers? Yes. The only difference is how you pay. Do I need an O2 mobile phone? No, as you can download music via your PC. However if you also have an O2 mobile phone then you can download music from wherever you are without having to sit in front of your PC. Please check to see if your phone and tariff are compatible with the O2 Music Player. (Your tariff needs to include GPRS - please check with O2 if you are unsure if your tariff includes GPRS.) What phones does the digital music player link with?
Initially, only the handsets listed on the left are compatible with the DMP Digital Music Player, using Infra-red connection.
How much does it cost per track?
Costs of tracks are either £1.00 for general tracks or £1.50 for premium tracks.
You will be billed for downloading these tracks over the air by SMS and will be advised of the cost.
Aren't most MP3's free?
No. Although everyone knows that you can download MP3's from some sites for free, in almost all cases this is illegal unless royalties are being paid.
Quite apart from the illegality (and record companies are now targetting individuals rather than big companies), downloading MP3's from "free" sites is fast becoming a sure fire way of infecting your PC with viruses, pornography, spyware and a host of other nasty advertising scripts that can cause havoc on Windows machines.

Can I use my digital music player to download tracks while I am abroad?
No. This is a UK only service. However, you can still play any music already downloaded, wherever you are in the world.
What is a SD or MMC Card?
This refers to the Memory Card which is used in the DMP to store all your downloaded music tracks. A 64MB card can store around 70 MP3 tracks.
