5.0 Megapixel Camera
With a built in 5.0 megapixel camera with auto focus, the HTC Touch Diamond2 takes quality pictures that you will want to share with your friends. Store them in your phone, email them to friends or upload them to your blog.
3G
The HTC Touch Diamond2 features 3G which stands for third generation, and the system is the third generation in the evolution of mobile networks, after analogue and GSM. 3G offers high speed data transfers and the ability to make video calls between compatible mobile phones.
HSDPA
HSDPA offers a similar benefit to a 3G network that GPRS offered to the GSM networks. It offers a higher speed data transfer with a compatible handset. HSDPA is often referred to as Mobile Broadband.
Full Touch Screen
The HTC Diamond2 has a large bright TFT touch screen supporting HTC's innovative TouchFLO 3D for finger swipe navigation. Use your hands or the stylus that comes included, the Diamond2 even supports handwriting recognition and has an accelerometer for auto screen rotation!
Wi-Fi
With Wi-Fi you can use your HTC phone on Orange to connect to a local wireless network (W-LAN) to connect to the internet. This offers a cheap (sometimes free) method of connecting to the net to download emails, files, or check on your favourite website.
Bluetooth 2.0
Bluetooth 2.0 is the next generation of Bluetooth connectivity. With Bluetooth 2.0 one of the biggest advantages is the possibility of listening to music with a compatible wireless headset in stereo. Less wires, less mess, more noise.
GPS
With built in GPS you can use the Touch Diamond2 to locate your position, plan your journey, and as a general Sat Nav device, when used in conjunction with compatible mapping software.
A-GPS
A-GPS is a network service that can locate your position to within 100 metres by using a clever technique called triangulation. By sending a signal to three cell masts, A-GPS will work out your location by the location of the cells and your distance from them. When combined with a GPS enabled mobile phone, the addition of A-GPS enables a faster GPS satellite lock.
Java
Java is often a forgotten feature on many phones, and is probably used in many ways without you even realising. If you play games on your phone, it's likely they are java apps. But java is so much more than games. It allows you to add extra functionality to your handset by installing third party apps to the phone. Add email functionality with Gmail, add a web browser from Opera Mini, add a business directory with Yell.com or keep an eye on a new purchase on Ebay.
Music Player
With a built in music player, you can carry your tunes with you, in your pocket, and listen to them when you want. Most digital formats are recognised on the phone, including MP3 and AAC.
Stereo FM Radio
With a Stereo FM Radio built in to the Orange Touch Diamond2, you will always have access to the latest tunes on your phone. Tune in to your favourite station, whenever you want, straight from your phone.
Email Client
The HTC phone has an email client, which will allow you to receive email from your own personal email account, and send pictures, videos or text emails to any email account anywhere in the world. Email access on the phone is simple to set up and a cost effective way of keeping in touch.
Web Browser
With a built in Web Browser you can access internet sites directly from your handset. Check the latest scores, look up train times, get a weather report, or find the answer to the question in the pub quiz. With the inbuilt web browser you have the power of the internet with you, wherever you are.
The HTC Touch Diamond2 combines brilliant looks with intuitive controls. The Diamond2 features a 3.2 inch TFT touchscreen display which utilizes HTC's TouchFLO 3D interface for a user friendly experience with finger swipe and handwriting recognition. The Touch Diamond2 runs on the Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system meaning you can synchronise with your outlook, open and edit Word and Excel documents and browse the web with Internet Explorer. The Diamond2 also features an impressive 5.0 Megapixel camera with Autofocus, HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity and GPS.
PN - Newcastle-12/11/2009 Having spent weeks looking into the options, then finally narrowing it down to the HTC TD2 and Hero, I went for the TD2, simply because of the size and slimmer width feel, when compared to the Hero and iPhone (not that the iPhone was ever a consideration).Luckily an immediate upgrade to Windows 6.5 was available, which brings the whole look of the phone up to date. Simple to get your head around, but you need to give it a week to understand the quickest route to completing a task, as there are many different ways you can do things. The features are endless, and I would say more suited towards the business user or more serious phone user than typical iPhone fans which always seem taken by the gimmicky apps on offer. On that front there aren't many for the Win 6.5, but in saying that the phone does everything I need it to do anyway. One other downside is the touch screen doesn't seem as fluid as the iPhone. Overall, I am over the moon with this, and benefited from a discounted call package from Orange. I was a little skeptical about the free insurance and gadget helpline which can be canceled before paying kicks in, but these actually turned out to be very easy to cancel, and both confirmed this was done. I'd definitely buy my phone through mobiles.co.uk again.
TB - Shropshire-26/10/2009 An excellent phone that just 'works'. Bought two (one for SWMBO) and am very please with it and the tariff (Orange on offer ). As it's Windows based it integrates nicely with my PCs and setting up is, IMO, idiot proof assuming a basic knowledge of computer use. In fact even for someone with no knowledge it would work well. I would recommend it.
EA - Aberdeen-09/06/2009 I can't believe that I could have one of the latest phones on the market, the HTC Touch Diamond 2 on a 12 month contract and it's completely free! For the last 2 years, most of the mobile network have removed their 12 months contract deal and replace them with 18 and 24 months. Personally I like new technology, it's really hard for me to hold a phone more than 12 months. Mobiles.co.uk offers plenty of amazing deals, more options to choose and suit different needs. Delivery is absolutely quick, brilliant! I would recommend to my friends.
DM - Watford-10/03/2009 We have been lucky enough to try out the HTC Touch Diamond2, over a month before it's officially due to launch. can it possibly surpass its predecessors as the next great Windows Mobile phone? Full Touch Diamond2 review here
