4.3 inch Touchscreen!
The HTC Touch HD 2 features an incredible 4.3 inch touchscreen display, the largest ever found on a mobile phone. With a staggering 800 x 480 pixel resolution, web browsing, photos, movies and games look incredible on the Touch HD 2! The touchscreen on the Touch HD 2 is capacitive meaning you only use your fingers making for a more fluid and natural user experience. The HD2 uses the first capacitive touch display on a Windows phone to make viewing, zooming and resizing websites, Microsoft Office files, PDF documents and pictures easier with just a pinch of your fingers
Windows Mobile 6.5
The HTC Touch HD 2 runs on Windows Mobile 6.5, the latest version of Microsoft's smart phone operating system. With the new upgrade, Windows Mobile is given a new user friendly interface that lets users access all their favourite content from the homescreen. Windows Mobile includes Pocket Office which lets users open and edit Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents, can run multiple applications at once and can download and install new apps from Windows Marketplace to further enhance the user experience. Windows Mobile 6.5 also supports Microsoft's new My Phone service enables you to automatically back up and synch photos, music, contacts and text messages for free from the HD2 to the web.
1GHz Processor
Thanks to a built in 1GHz Qualcomm processor, the Touch HD 2 truly is a smart smartphone. Run several applications at once with little slow down, launch programs and apps instantly and navigate the phone's many features effortlessly. All this is possible thanks to the 1GHz processor and 320 MB RAM found on the HTC Touch HD 2
HTC Sense
The HTC HD2 is the first Windows phone to feature HTC Sense. Make it your HD2 with HTC Sense, letting you personalise and create a phone just right for you. Sense UI lets you add widgets to your homescreen, also letting you customise the size and style, flick through multiple windows so all your favourites are at your fingertips and search for contacts, Twitter Tweets, Emails and much more. HTC Sense also brings all your contacts together in one place. When you view people in your contacts list you see the different ways to get in touch; Email, social networking updates such as Facebook and even what photos your friends have recently uploaded. You can even upload your own photos taken with the HD2's 5.0 Megapixel camera!
3G
The HTC Touch HD2, formerly known as the Leo, features 3G which stands for third generation, and the system is the third generation in the evolution of mobile networks, after analogue and GSM. 3G offers high speed data transfers and the ability to make video calls between compatible mobile phones.
HSDPA
HSDPA offers a similar benefit to a 3G network that GPRS offered to the GSM networks. It offers a higher speed data transfer with a compatible handset. HSDPA is often referred to as Mobile Broadband.
Wi-Fi
With Wi-Fi you can use your HTC phone on Orange to connect to a local wireless network (W-LAN) to connect to the internet. This offers a cheap (sometimes free) method of connecting to the net to download emails, files, or check on your favourite website.
Bluetooth 2.1
Bluetooth 2.1 is the next generation of Bluetooth connectivity. With Bluetooth 2.0 one of the biggest advantages is the possibility of listening to music with a compatible wireless headset in stereo. Less wires, less mess, more noise.
GPS
With built in GPS you can use the Touch HD 2 to locate your position, plan your journey, and as a general Sat Nav device, when used in conjunction with compatible mapping software.
A-GPS
A-GPS is a network service that can locate your position to within 100 metres by using a clever technique called triangulation. By sending a signal to three cell masts, A-GPS will work out your location by the location of the cells and your distance from them. When combined with a GPS enabled mobile phone, the addition of A-GPS enables a faster GPS satellite lock.
Java
Java is often a forgotten feature on many phones, and is probably used in many ways without you even realising. If you play games on your phone, it's likely they are java apps. But java is so much more than games. It allows you to add extra functionality to your handset by installing third party apps to the phone. Add email functionality with Gmail, add a web browser from Opera Mini, add a business directory with Yell.com or keep an eye on a new purchase on Ebay.
Music Player
With a built in music player, you can carry your tunes with you, in your pocket, and listen to them when you want. Most digital formats are recognised on the phone, including MP3 and AAC.
Stereo FM Radio
With a Stereo FM Radio built in to the Orange Touch HD 2, you will always have access to the latest tunes on your phone. Tune in to your favourite station, whenever you want, straight from your phone.
Email Client
The HTC touch hd 2 has an email client, which will allow you to receive email from your own personal email account, and send pictures, videos or text emails to any email account anywhere in the world. Email access on the phone is simple to set up and a cost effective way of keeping in touch.
5.0 Megapixel Camera
With a built in 5.0 megapixel camera with auto focus and an LED Flash, the HTC Touch HD 2 takes quality pictures that you will want to share with your friends. Store them in your phone, email them to friends or upload them to your blog.
Web Browser
With a built in Web Browser you can access internet sites directly from your handset. Check the latest scores, look up train times, get a weather report, or find the answer to the question in the pub quiz. With the inbuilt web browser you have the power of the internet with you, wherever you are.
The HTC HD2 features a huge 4.3 inch display which makes watching movies and browsing the web a joy. Employing capacitive touchscreen technology, the Touch HD 2 feels as good as it looks, reacting solely to your fingers for a more personal and natural feel. Featuring HTC Sense UI, the HD2 lets you customise the phone and add shortcuts to all your favourite content. The HD 2 runs Windows Mobile 6.5 letting you run multiple applications, effortlessly thanks to the built in 1GHz processor, download apps and edit office documents. Also included is HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS and a 5.0 Megapixel camera.
RB - Sunderland-20/07/2010 Got this phone 6 months ago, and never regretted getting any other phone. Never mind what people say about wm6.5 - the phone is fast and can easily be loaded with software such as tom tom etc. One feature that I haven't seen on any other mobile, is that it can be used as a router. Many a time I have been on the move and me and my son have been accessing the internet on our laptops through the modem - just like having a dongle each! After reading some of the tweaks on xda developer site, I tuned up my phone and customised it to do things that it doesn't normally do - the Windows system is so flexible.
TK - Bedford-11/05/2010 I got the HD2 after reading a full page review in a Sunday magazine. It does all and more than I could of expected. The large screen makes everything so easy to do. Can't fault it and I am sure it will give the iPhone a run for it's money.
LN - Nottinghamshire-24/02/2010 I also debated long and hard about getting the HTC HD2 and I'm so glad I did, it's brilliant, it's so slim, so tactile and the screen is fantastic. Holds all my music on the storage card included with loads more space to add more. The camera takes great shots and everything is handy and easy to personalise. The call sound is great, speaker sound excellent when playing music, I can't say enough great things about it...and I haven't even thought about downloading anything else on it yet!!! It's also a very well made phone...I'm so glad I have it! I'm not a tech type either...maybe theres so much more to this phone I have yet to find & see, I just wanted a great phone, but with that bit extra...and thats what I have..and more ...Brilliant!!!!
TL - London-19/02/2010 I have had this handset for 3 weeks and I must admit that it has some great features. I have found the only down point to be that it lacks the speed of its predecessor (HD - Blackstone) where the Bluetooth connectivity is concerned; However a visit to GSM Arena and HTCPedia has fixed this issue and also given me access to loads of Apps for this device. I can now deem this the best mobile phone out there.
ME - Leeds-18/02/2010 Amazing phone. I can't believe the speed, the build quality, the looks. It feels really good in the hand, solid throughout. Everything is fantastic, simply the best phone I have ever owned or used. I'm really glad. It leaves the iPhone 3gs for dead, even iPhone 4gs? When available later in year won't touch this for spec or performance because you can not improve on 1ghz processor, 4.3" screen size and CAPACITIVE touch type, 5MP camera with LED flash and of course the memory (HTC have hidden YES you heard right, hidden an additional 128MB RAM and a stonking 512MB ROM to be freed sometime soon after MWC 2010 in February via an official software ROM update to WM 6.5.3, remember HTC hid wireless N capability which you can switch on with a simple registry ammendment). So why wait? Let's not forget the superb quality of service at Mobiles.co.uk, it is top notch. Excellent after sale customer service team. Highly recommend you get HD2 from Mobiles because phone is SIM-FREE and unlocked to all networks, probably comes straight from HTC, so all updates and ROM's from HTC site can be installed without hindrance. The HTC HD2 without a shadow of a doubt has got Apple worried, (worried enough to tell Vodafone to remove from its consumer site or no iPhone!!). You think I'm lying, Google it and see the response. You will be AMAZED.
AD - Falkirk-02/02/2010 Debated long and hard on the HD2 v iPhone and choose the HD2. What a phone, its looks and ease of use are just great. The superb touch screen and intuitive operating system just leave you in awe. Don't be fooled over the apps, there are lots out there in Windows Marketplace and other sites on the web. I am a gadget freak, and I think I'll have a long relationship with my HD2.
MT - Bournemouth-27/01/2010 I bought this phone a little off 2 months ago and have been nothing but ecstatic since! It looks fantastic, feels amazing, and first and foremost displays beautifully with a screen consisting of 65,000 colours and a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels which displays pictures in awesome quality, everything this screen sets its eyes upon is displayed on its huge (compared to the size of the phone in comparison to the leading competitor and its screen size) 4.3 inch screen with extreme sharpness and vivid colour. In all honesty, yes, for a phone, this phone is quite big, but for me, along with the healthy weight makes it feel even more manly, robust and well made. No cheap plasticy casing that you find on a lot of other phones. I initially bought this phone with slight doubt in my mind having read reviews on Windows Mobile operating system, however, having owned it and used the new Windows Mobile 6.5, this phone has taken those fears and completely dispelled them. Since owning this phone I have been the envy of all my friends in the technical world, including iPhone users, now wishing they weren't stuck in 24 month contracts, with more expensive contracts and getting less for the contract price. All in all, the HTC HD2 is a Great phone. Perfect for business use, personal use and excitement. If you want a phone that falls into all of these categories. This is the phone for you.
MH - Kent-25/01/2010 HTC HD2 is a great looking phone that can beat the iPhone in some extents..
LP - --21/01/2010 Phone is excellent does everything I want.
MZ - West Midlands-15/01/2010 This is a stonking phone. It is the iPhone killer. You have full control of all the various aspects of the phone. There are lots of free applications out there. Ok, so they're not as easy as the iPhones market place, but still, if you can use Google, you can find them. The phone itself is gorgeous. The screen size is perfect for surfing the internet. I got mine from mobiles.co.uk and recommend you do too. If you get the phone directly from a network provider, you risk the serials being locked down meaning you can't install hot fixes from HTC and have to wait for the network provider to provide fixes (if they can be bothered). So, be warned. Anyway, don't think any further and buy the phone!
AA - London-24/12/2009 Good looking phone. I must say its the most beautiful phone I've ever seen.
MB - Dover-15/12/2009 The HD2 looks quite a complicated piece of kit when you first use it, however after only an hour of use I was navigating the screens easily enough and knew enough to download contacts from Facebook. The windows service works well. The camera is good and takes some very good video footage, and the screen is fantastic for either watching a movie or looking at web sites. The phone comes with a good leather protection case, however I would recommend some kind of protective film. Overall a very good phone, should you want to break away from the Apple mould.
BK - Berkshire-30/11/2009 HTC HD2 is a brilliant phone and completely beaten the iphone 3GS in my opinion, it has more great features, compatibility and larger screen. greatest phone in the current market.......
MB - Watford-20/11/2009 The HTC HD2 combines a huge touchscreen display with a super quick processor making it one of the most powerful Windows Mobile phones ever released. Click here to read our full HTC HD2 Review.
