Android Operating System

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 runs on the Android operating system, developed in part by Google. Downloadable applications from the Android Market, full customisation and support for Google sevices such as Google Maps, G-Mail and Google Search are all Possible with Android. The X10 dispenses with a hardware QWERTY keyboard in favour of an on screen one which helps to keep size and weight down.

Free Google Maps Navigation

Turn your Google Android smartphone into a powerful Sat Nav device with free voice guided navigation. Google Maps Navigation offers turn by turn voice guided navigation, text and voice search with support for keywords to find local services, satellite and street view and the ability to navigate to friends addresses listed in your contacts. Google Maps will even remember recent destinations and features a wide range of points of interest.

Touchscreen

The Xperia X10 features a huge 4.0 inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 400 pixels providing sharp images and natural colours. Use your fingers to navigate through menus; once you've used a touchscreen phone you'll never look back! The Xperia X10 uses capacitive technology to deliver a more intuitive user experience. The X10 even has a built in accelerometer which automatically rotates the screen to match how the phone is held.

1GHz Processor

Thanks to the built in Qualcomm 1GHz Snapdragon processor, the X10 truly is a smart smartphone. Run several applications at once with little slow down, launch programs and apps instantly and navigate the phone's many features effortlessly. All this is possible thanks to the 1GHz processor and 256 MB RAM found on the Xperia X10.

Sony Ericsson Timescape is a new user interface that manages all your communication with one person in one place. Browse through your conversations to check out your Facebook, Twitter, photos, emails, and texts all in one go. Start a conversation by SMS Text message and continue it by email; the Xperia X10 gathers all your content in one place making it easy to see whats going on.

Mediascape

Sony Ericsson Mediascape is the smart way to get all the music, photos and videos you want from your favourite friends and artists. It accesses content from everywhere - your phone, YouTube, PlayNow - and presents everything for you to start enjoying.

Music Master!

The Xperia X10 features an impressive music player supporting a host of file formats including AAC and MP3. Store music on the internal memory, expand it further with a memory card and listen to them on the bundled headphones or using your own thanks to the 3.5mm audio jack. The X10 also boasts 1GB of internal memory plus a microSD card slot so you can store 1000's of tracks on your smartphone.

Wi-Fi

With Wi-Fi you can use your phone to connect to a local wireless network (W-LAN) to connect to the internet. This offers a cheap (sometimes free) method of connecting to the net to download emails, files, or check on your favourite website.

HSDPA

HSDPA offers a similar benefit to a 3G network that GPRS offered to the GSM networks. It offers a higher speed data transfer with a compatible handset such as the Sony Ericsson X10 on . HSDPA is commonly known as Mobile Broadband.

GPS

With built in GPS you can use the Xperia Rachel to locate your position, plan your journey, and as a general SatNav device, when used in conjunction with compatible mapping software. You can also Geo-tag photos taken on the X10's camera so you can tell friends where you got that Kodak moment.

A-GPS

A-GPS on the Sony Xperia is a network service that can locate your position to within 100 metres by using a clever technique called triangulation. By sending a signal to three cell masts, A-GPS will work out your location by the location of the cells and your distance from them.

Web Browser

With a built in Web Browser you can access internet sites directly from your handset. Check the latest scores, look up train times, get a weather report, or find the answer to the question in the pub quiz. The X10 also offers full support for YouTube for hous of entertainment.
