WebOS
The Palm Pre runs on Palms brand new operating system WebOS. Built from the ground up specifically for the Pre, WebOS lets users run multiple applications simultaneously which are represented on screen as cards. Flick through the cards to manage open apps and flick off screen to close them. The Pre also lets users download new apps from the WebOS App Store to enhance the phones capabilities.
Full Touch Screen
The Palm Pre has a large bright 3.1 inch touchscreen supporting multi-touch technology. Navigation has never felt so natural or intuitive, the Palm Pre features pinch zooming, confirms on screen commands with a stylish ripple effect and even has an accelerometer for auto screen rotation!
Say it with a Gesture
In addition to the touchscreen display, the Palm Pre features an intuitive gesture area helping you to navigate without obscuring the screen. Swipe backwards to navigate back in the web browser or an application, up to minimise apps and slowly drag up onto the main display to call up the shortcut menu.
QWERTY Keyboard
Slide the Palm Pre up to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard; perfect for sending texts, emails and instant messages. Thanks to Palm Synergy, your conversations with the same person are grouped together in one chat-style view. Even if started by email and you want to reply by text, the Pre will group messages from the same contact together into one seamless conversation.
HSDPA
HSDPA on the O2 Palm Pre means that you can enjoy speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps, similar to your home broadband. This means that web browsing and downloads are handled at lightening quick speeds. HSDPA is commonly known as Mobile Broadband.
Wi-Fi
With Wi-Fi you can use your Palm phone on O2 to connect to a local wireless network (W-LAN) to connect to the internet. This offers a cheap (sometimes free) method of connecting to the net to download emails, files, or check on your favourite website.
Bluetooth 2.0
Bluetooth 2.0 is the next generation of Bluetooth connectivity. With Bluetooth 2.0 one of the biggest advantages is the possibility of listening to music with a compatible wireless headset in stereo. Less wires, less mess, more noise.
GPS
With built in GPS you can use the Pre to locate your position, plan your journey, and as a general SatNav device, when used in conjunction with compatible mapping software.
Music Player
With a built in music player, you can carry your tunes with you, in your pocket, and listen to them when you want. Most digital formats are recognised on the phone, including MP3 and AAC.
3.2 Megapixel Camera
A built in 3.2 megapixel camera means that the Palm Pre takes quality pictures that you will want to share with your friends. Store them in your phone, email them to friends or upload them to your blog.
8GB Internal Memory
With 8GB of internal memory found on the Palm Pre, you'll never be short of space. Use the massive memory to store all your music, pictures and videos so you can take them with you, wherever you go.
Web Browser
With a built in Web Browser you can access internet sites directly from your handset. Check the latest scores, look up train times, get a weather report, or find the answer to the question in the pub quiz. With the inbuilt web browser you have the power of the internet with you, wherever you are.
