Vodafone & O2 (BT Cellnet)
Acceptable Proofs of ID
As part of the procedure for connecting a mobile phone, we require proofs of your identification to be faxed over to us. Only certain items are acceptable and delays are inevitable if the Service Provider is unhappy with any particular document.
Vodafone and O2 require one proof of address and one proof of signature before your phone can be despatched. Customers must also be over 18 years of age.
Acceptable Proofs of Address
- Bank/Building Society Statement (dated within last 3 months)
- Credit Card Statement (dated within last 3 months)
- Gas Bill (dated within last 3 months)
- Electricity Bill (dated within last 3 months)
- BT/Cable Telephone Bill (dated within last 3 months)
- Inland Revenue Document (dated within last 3 months)
- Council Tax Bill (dated within last 3 months)
- TV Rental Bill (dated within last 3 months)
Acceptable Proofs of Signature
- Full UK Driving Licence (must be in current address)
- Official UK Passport (must be computer printed - old handwritten ones are no longer acceptable)
- Bank/Building Society cheque guarantee card (must be copies of both front & back)
- Bank/Building Society credit card (must be copies of both front & back)
- Switch/Delta Debit Card (not Electron) (must be copies of both front & back)
- Police/Armed Forces ID/Warrant Card
- Shotgun Licence
Notes
- O2 allow Police/Armed Forces ID/Warrant Card to be used as both proofs
- Vodafone no longer allow Full UK Driving Licence to be used as both proofs
- Vodafone no longer allow Shotgun Licence to be used as both proofs

Unfortunately the following are NOT acceptable:
- Water Bill
- Mobile Phone Bill
- Provisional Driving Licence
- Birth Certificate
- Catalogue Statements
- Bank/Building Society Letters
- ID Cards other than Police/Armed Forces
- Electron card
- Non-UK passport
- Any reminder or final notice
