Facebook Features You Might Not Know About

Since its humble beginnings in 2004, Facebook has become a staple in our daily diet of social media. It has evolved and developed extensively over the past two decades, but remains as popular as ever, with more than two billion users worldwide, making it the world's most used platform.

But, inevitably, as things develop and change, there are many hidden gems tucked away. Let's explore the Facebook Features you might not know about below.

Face To Face With 50

We’re sure that just like us, Facebook Messenger has become one of your go-to chatting apps, but one feature we’ve only recently started using is Messenger Rooms. It’s available on both Facebook and Messenger, and you can invite anyone to join your video call, regardless of whether they have Facebook or not.

With a room capacity of 50 users, you can use this feature for book club meetings, virtual parties or even just a catch up with friends, and perhaps its best element is that there’s no time constraints attached.

When you create a room, you choose who can see and join it, and you have the ability to remove callers and lock the room if you don’t want anyone else to attend. You can share and start rooms on Facebook through Groups, Events and Newsfeed. If you’re setting up a room on Messenger, just tap the People section and then you can set your preferences for the session.

An Eye On The Clock

It might be one of the most popular forms of social media in the world, but we’re sure that, like us, you’re probably curious as to how much time you spend scrolling or posting from your mobile.

To find out, just click the More menu. Close to the bottom of the list, you will see a Your Time on Facebook tab (on iOS, you can view this by heading to Settings and Privacy > Your Time on Facebook).

By clicking through, you’ll be able to see your daily average and the time that you’ve spent on the app over a seven day period.

You’re also able to set a daily time reminder that will let you know when you’ve spent a certain amount of time on the app each day.

What’s In A Name

Each of us often has a nickname, especially amongst our friends and family, so why shouldn’t you be able to use this on Facebook? Well, Messenger gives you the chance to make things less formal with your contacts.

When you open the Messenger app, select a conversation then hit the i button in the top right hand corner of the conversation. Select Nicknames and choose the contact that you want to give a nickname to.Type it in, confirm your choice and you're done.

Add A Touch Of Mystique

Messenger has become even more user-friendly since the introduction of Dark Mode. Not only is it easier on the eyes when you’re using it at night, but if you have a phone with an AMOLED screen, then it can save on battery life too.

To add this new dimension to your chat, open the Messenger App up, tap on your profile picture in the top left corner and then turn Dark Mode on.
