Considering a Samsung for your next handset? Samsung is a reliable and high-tech smartphone manufacturer, with an excellent reputation for releasing phones that have excellent cameras and super high-resolution displays.
If you’re not sure which Samsung is right for you, the popular 5th generation A series could be a great place to start. Find out all about each device in the series, right here.
Samsung Galaxy A80
At a glance: 6.7-inch Infinity Display, triple-lens 48MP + 8MP + 3D depth camera, 3,700 mAh battery, 8GB RAM, 128GB internal memory.
The Samsung Galaxy A80 is the most advanced device in the A series, offering users the very best tech, all packed into a striking and futuristic design.
With a 6.7-inch, edge-to-edge Infinity Display, the smartphone itself is virtually all screen, with no home button or front-facing camera to interrupt the display. The camera pops from the top of the handset when activated, and the fingerprint scanner is concealed within the screen. Plus, with a Full HD+ resolution, the Super AMOLED screen on the Galaxy A80 will deliver picture-perfect, true-to-life colours, making viewing pictures and streaming media a pleasure.
Perhaps the most exciting feature of the Galaxy A80 is its rotating triple-lens camera system which is used for both the front and rear facing cameras. The camera is tucked away at the top of the phone, and when activated it pops out, rotating for both selfies and panoramic shots. There’s a 48MP lens for ultra-detailed shots, an 8MP ultra-wide lens with a 123-degree field of view to perfectly capture panoramic snaps and a 3D depth lens that allows you to capture photos in bokeh effect or live focus.
Samsung Galaxy A70
At a glance: 6.7-inch display, triple-lens 32MP + 8MP + 3D depth camera, 4,500 mAh battery, 6GB RAM.
Another of Samsung’s most popular devices, the Samsung Galaxy A70 has an long-lasting battery, 32MP triple-lens camera and huge 6.7-inch display. The design of the Galaxy A70 is very similar to the A80, with a 6.7-inch edge-to-edge display and glossy frame with curved edges. It shares the same Super AMOLED technology with Full HD+ resolution, offering excellent quality when streaming your favourite TV shows or movies on the go.
The design does differ, however, as the A70 has Samsung's Infinity-V design. This means the 32MP front-facing camera is located in a small dewdrop-shaped notch on the screen. A long-lasting 4,500 mAh battery powers the phone for a whole day of use without needing to recharge. When you do run out, the super-fast charging feature helps you power back up quickly.
Samsung Galaxy A50
At a glance: 6.4-inch Infinity Display, triple-lens 25MP + 8MP + 3D depth camera, 4,000 mAh battery, 4 GB RAM, 128GB internal memory.
For a more affordable handset with high-end specs, choose the Samsung Galaxy A50. It looks premium in design, with an eye-catching gradient design and the same Infinity V display that we see on the A70. The screen is 6.4-inches with a screen-to-body ratio of 85%, and is equipped with the familiar Super AMOLED technology for clear, bright and true to light colours.
Protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, the A50 is protected from most drops, scrapes and damages. With facial recognition technology, you can unlock the handset by simply looking into the screen, keeping your personal details and data safe.
The camera is equally as impressive. Sporting a triple-lens 25MP+5MP+8MP main camera, the A50 will always capture your memories in the best light. Scene optimiser is also on hand to intelligently detect a number of scenes and automatically adapt the camera settings to take the best-possible shots.
Samsung Galaxy A40
At a glance: 5.9-inch Infinity Display, dual-lens 16MP + 5MP rear camera, 3,100 mAh battery, 4 GB RAM, 64GB internal memory.
A mid-range smartphone that carries much of the same high tech as other handsets in the series, the Samsung Galaxy A40 is an excellent all-rounder. The Galaxy A40’s frame is constructed from Glasstic – Samsung’s glass-plastic hybrid which is both resilient and durable. The A40 is protected by a fingerprint scanner which allows you to unlock with a tap, and also features a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The camera is seriously impressive for its price point, with a 16MP+5MP dual-lens system on the rear and 25MP camera on the front. Scene Optimiser is featured, as well as bokeh effect capabilities and Smart Beauty to enhance your features using artificial intelligence.
Plus, the Galaxy A40 is equipped with Android Pie and Samsung’s interface, One UI, to help deliver a super-fast performance, with a host of additional extras such as Night Mode (to help wind down and prevent eye strain) and Bixby Vision (to translate languages in real time) on board too.
Samsung Galaxy A20e
At a glance: 5.8-inch Infinity Display, dual-lens 13MP + 5MP rear camera, 3,000 mAh battery, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal memory.
One of the most affordable handsets in the A series, the Samsung Galaxy A20e is perfect if you want a Samsung phone on a budget. The Infinity-V Display is featured again on the Galaxy A20e, this time on a 5.8-inch screen. The edge-to-edge display gives the impression of a larger screen, making the most of the space available and contributing to a stylish design.
The dual-lens 13MP and 5MP rear camera has a host of extras to help take the very best shots, including Wide Shot mode to help fit more detail into every photo and a 123-degree field of view – the same view as the human eye. Selfie focus helps take selfies with the Instagrammable bokeh effect, and built-in AR stickers allow you to have more fun with your photos.
Samsung Galaxy A10
At a glance: 6.2-inch HD+ Infinity-V Display, 13MP rear camera, 3,400 mAh battery, 2GB RAM, 32GB internal memory.
Still fully loaded with impressive tech despite its low price point, the Samsung Galaxy A10 first and foremost feels great in the hand, with smooth rounded corners, a slim 8.1-inch design and a lightweight 168g build. The Samsung Galaxy A10 features Samsung's latest screen technology too: the Infinity-V display. Measuring 6.2 inches diagonally, the barely-there notch in this screen adds to an already cinematic viewing experience. Whatever you're doing, be it streaming media or just browsing through your photos, you'll be able to enjoy accurate, vivid colours thanks to the HD+ resolution.
The Samsung Galaxy A10 features two great cameras. On the rear you'll find a 13MP camera, and a wide aperture of F1.9 ensures you'll receive great light in your pictures, even in dimmer conditions. As for the front, you'll find a 5MP selfie camera tucked away inside that minimal V-shaped notch. Facial recognition technology is based here too, so you can securely open the A10 with a quick look.
In terms of power, the Galaxy A10 won't let you down. This smartphone features an octa-core processor, and a large 3,4000 mAh battery designed to fast charge and deliver up to 21 hours talk time.
