If you’re an avid windows user, a SIM-free HP Elite X3 is the perfect choice. While the number of Windows phones has reduced slightly over the past few years, the HP Elite is one of the best handsets offering the operating system, thanks to a range of factors.
First, Windows 10. The mobile version of the newest Microsoft operating system has been optimised perfectly for mobile devices, and the Elite X3 makes perfect use of the software, especially Continuum. This slick bit of tech basically lets you dock the phone to an HP Desk Dock, connected to a display, and then use the phone as a replacement for a laptop or PC. It’s a really useful feature, and lets you take the ultra-portable dock and phone travelling instead of a bulky PC system.
You can even use Continuum wirelessly on the display you’re streaming to, and the biggie: you can use all of Windows’ applications – Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Notepad, OneNote and so forth – from your phone. This is a businessperson’s smartphone, through and through.
There’s no two ways about it; the Elite X3 is a big phone. The 5.93 inch screen and 161.8 x 83.5 x 7.8mm form are certainly large, and perhaps one of the biggest out there if you’re hunting for a device with a super-sized screen.
While some big devices can sometimes look a little unwieldy, despite the size, this phablet looks stunning. The metal frame, polycarbonate back and metallic plastic receiver plate make for a seriously stylish device, and you’ll be the envy of your friends and colleagues – whip this out at a meeting and all eyes will be on you.
The design gets better though. With an IP 67 dust and water resistance rating, the phone can easily cope with any splashes, and the super-strong gorilla glass screen and military-grade MIL-STD 810G certification body mean this isn’t a device to take knocks and scratches lying down.
