What is a mobile phone upgrade?

New handset upgrade

An upgrade is an extension of your contract with your current network provider. The main reasons for you to upgrade would be to change to a better-suited tariff to save you some cash, or alternatively to get a brand new, top-of-the-range mobile phone.

Upgrading your mobile may sound complicated but in truth it's really straight forward. It also doesn’t matter where you brought your previous handset and contract. With a top selection of all the big networks, it’s never been easier to upgrade and save with us.

When can I upgrade? / Can I upgrade early?

Check first whether you are eligible for an upgrade. You must have an existing O2, Vodafone, EE, Orange or T-Mobile contract to upgrade. When upgrading, you’ll always continue with your existing network. If your contract is currently with Orange or T-Mobile, you can upgrade through EE.

You don’t always have to wait until the very end of your contract. With O2 you are eligible for an early upgrade 30 days before the end of your contract, EE allows 45 days before and Vodafone users can upgrade 75 days before. You can also early upgrade before this time, but this would incur an early upgrade fee roughly equivalent to your remaining line rental.

Which phones can I choose?

You can choose any of the phones available on our site; there are no restrictions. Just because it’s called an ‘upgrade’ doesn’t mean you’re obliged to select a more advanced phone. Of course there’s the option to get some next-generation tech, but you can also go for a more low-cost option if you prefer.

All you need to do is choose your new phone and supply us with your current mobile phone number in the cart. This will then be automatically transferred to your new contract, so you don’t have to worry about manually porting your number. Just sit back, and let us take care of everything.
