The Samsung Galaxy S8 won the Best Smartphone award at the 2017 Trusted Reviews awards, and deservedly so.

Samsung’s finest flagship to date kicked off the trend of extending smartphone displays and reducing the bezel, and it results in a beautiful device. The screen might be large at 5.8-inches, but the phone itself is comfortable to hold in one hand. It’s also one of the best displays out there, thanks to the AMOLED tech for perfect blacks and pin-sharp quad-HD+ resolution.

Design aside, the S8 impresses in other areas too. There’s an excellent camera that’s reliable both in daylight and at night, plus software that’s slicker and faster than before. It’s IP68 rated for water-resistance so you can dunk it in the bath without worrying, and there’s support for wireless and fast charging.

Samsung has also kept around the 3.5mm jack, so you won’t need to invest in a new pair of headphones here.

With its minimised bezel and advanced Infinity Display, the 5.8 inch screen of the Galaxy S8 adds an extra half-inch to the 5.1 inch display seen on the S7. Although the S7 features a near flawless display, the added size and Quad-HD resolution of the S8 make this the superior device when it comes to viewing movies, playing games, or just browsing the web.

Although both handsets are compatible with the popular Gear VR system, the Galaxy S8 has numerous new features too. With the inclusion of an iris scanner, the Bixby Vision personal assistant and Samsung Connect technology, the next-generation tech of the S8 marks it as a clear evolutionary step-up from Samsung’s previous flagship handset.
