How are charging speeds measured?
Charging speeds are measured by testing how long it takes for a phone to go from 1% to 100%. This method applies to wired and wireless charging, with the former typically offering significantly faster charging speeds.
Results are also measured in 15 and 30-minute intervals, which can be useful if you like to charge up your phone in short bursts.
What does charging speed mean?
There’s more to charging speed than meets the eye. Whilst time from 1% to 100% is important as a singular metric, wattage also plays an important role.
Watts are used to measure energy transmission rate, and in the case of phone charging, higher watt numbers mean a faster transmission of energy. The larger the number, the faster your phone can charge up.
Is the charger important?
Yes, the type of charger you use will help determine how fast your phone powers up. For example, even if a handset supports 45W charging, you’re not going to get those speeds with a 25W charger; you’ll need one that supports 45W or more.

Despite not being a household name like Apple or Google, HONOR frequently appear as a top recommendation from us due to its ability to produce phones with exceptional battery life. This is where the Magic7 Pro comes in; with superb battery capacity and charging speeds, it wipes the floor with most of the competition.
The 5270mAh battery can be charged back up to 100% in ~30 minutes; not quite the 25 minute average of the Motorola Edge 50 Pro, which is largely due to the Magic7 Pro having a larger battery and slightly slower 100W charger. Make no mistake though, this phone is a powerhouse when it comes to charging speeds.
There is one area where the Magic7 Pro has the Edge 50 Pro beat: wireless charging. If you prefer to power up your handset without a cable, the Magic7 Pro supports 80W wireless charging.
3 – OPPO Find X8 Pro

Much like the HONOR Magic7 Pro, the OPPO Find X8 Pro might not be immediately familiar but is sure to impress. Its battery capacity of 5910mAh is only marginally beaten by the pricier Motorola Edge 60 Pro, easily lasting the day before a recharge is needed.
Charging speeds aren’t quite at the level of other phones here, but you’re still able to reach 70% in ~30 minutes and 100% in about an hour with a wired charger. When recharged wirelessly, the Find X8 Pro can reach a full charge in just under 1 hour 45 minutes.
4 – Motorola Edge 60 Pro

• Wireless charging – 15W
The Motorola Edge 60 Pro is number 4 on our list, but make no mistake: this is an exceptional phone with battery life to match. At 6000mAh, this is the largest battery of the lot and can easily shrug off heavy usage without breaking a sweat.
In terms of a full wired charge, the Edge 60 Pro takes less than 55 minutes to reach 100%. Within 30 minutes, the battery should be around 75% charged; you won’t be waiting around for long with this handset.
Wireless charging is a different story, which is were the Edge 60 Pro trips up slightly. 15W charging with a pad is supported, resulting in an almost 3hr wait for a full charge using this method. Compared to the wireless recharge speeds on the OPPO Find X8 Pro and HONOR Magic7 Pro, this phone doesn’t quite hit the big time.
Despite lacking in the wireless charging department, the Motorola Edge 60 Pro is a fantastic option if you primarily charge with a cable. If sheer battery capacity is what you’re looking for, this is the device for you.
