The highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S9 and Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus have finally been revealed. Following the announcement at Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked conference at MWC 2018 in Barcelona, we've got the rundown on what users can expect from the tech giant's latest flagship smartphones.
Samsung Galaxy S9 Release Date
The official release date for both phones is 16 March 2018. However, if you pre-order your device you can get your hands on Samsung's most advanced smartphone a week before general release. All pre-orders before 6pm on Thursday 8th March will receive their handset seven days early, on Friday 9th March. We'll also double your storage with a free memory card.

The Galaxy S9 weighs 163g while the Galaxy S9 Plus is slightly heavier at 189g. Many will also be pleased to hear that there's a 3.5mm headphone jack and the fingerprint scanner remains located on the back, beneath the camera. Both phones are available in a new choice of colours, with the debut of Lilac Purple alongside the classic Midnight Black and Coral Blue.
Samsung Galaxy S9 Camera
Samsung have made the reimagined camera both the tagline and main talking point of the new handsets' launch, and it certainly doesn't disappoint.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus has an incredible 12MP, dual-lens rear camera while the Galaxy S9 has a 12MP single-lens camera. Both have dual aperture, with two F-stops: F1.5 and F2.4. The first is ideal for taking high-quality snaps in darker environments, while the F2.4 mode can be used in daylight to increase sharpness.
For selfie lovers, the 8MP front-facing camera promises to take the perfect shot - whether you're looking to share snaps with friends or post directly to Instagram. Optical Image Stabilisation keeps things sharp and detailed, while the Live Focus feature and bokeh filters found on the S9 Plus adds a depth of field to portraits.
Samsung have also taken slow motion video to the next level with their flagship devices. Aptly named Super Slow-Mo, you can shoot at 960 frames per second with the super speed sensor. Capture the moment, then edit it one of three ways - reverse loop puts the clip into rewind, forward loop slows down the video at the perfect moment and swing creates a boomerang effect.
Samsung Galaxy S9 Display and Audio
As expected, the display is stunning. Stretching edge-to-edge on both handsets, colours appear rich and vivid in any light. Size-wise, the Galaxy S9's Infinity Display sits at 5.8 inches while the Galaxy S9 Plus boasts a huge 6.2 inch screen.
Not only will your content look amazing on that vibrant display, it will also sound incredible courtesy of twin ATG speakers. Enjoy crystal clarity on your favourite tunes and videos, with Dolby Atmos stereo sound offering immersive playback.
Samsung Galaxy S9 Specifications
Pre-installed, you'll find Google's latest operating system Android Oreo on both Galaxy S9 models, and the ever-evolving Bixby Personal Assistant is also on board.
There's a powerful Exynos 9810 octa-core processor and 64GB storage available - however, thanks to the microSD slot you can upgrade to a whopping 400GB. The Galaxy S9 also has 4GB RAM, while the Galaxy S9 Plus boasts 6GB RAM.
As for the battery, both are fantastic but you can expect a jump in size on the Plus. The Galaxy S9 Plus has a 3500mAH battery while the Galaxy S9 has a 3000mAh battery, and there's both wireless and fast-charge technology on both smartphones.
Dust and water are both protected against, as both flagship phones have an IP68 water and dust resistance rating.
Samsung AR Emoji
AR Emoji enables Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus users to create an augmented reality version of themselves on their device. Simply take a selfie and let the tech get to work, then send emoji stickers and videos of your digitalised self to others.
Want to create your AR Emoji quickly? Why not ask Bixby? Just say 'Hi Bixby, create my emoji' to get started.
Samsung Intelligent Scan
Samsung's Intelligent Scan combines face recognition and iris scanning technology to ensure unlocking your device is easy for you, and impossible for others. You can also open up the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus with your fingerprint, passcode, pattern or PIN.
