Add Screen Recording to your phone
You first need to check if the Screen Recording app is already in your Control Centre. All iPhones that have iOS 11 or later will have this feature built-in.
On an iPhone X or later, swipe down from the top-right corner. On an iPhone SE, 8 or earlier, swipe up from the bottom.
If the app is installed, the icon will look like a record button, and you can skip to section two. Read the following steps if the app is not installed:
- From the Settings menu, go to Control Centre. You will then see Screen Recording as an option.
- Tap the Add (+) button to add it to your Control Centre.
Recording your screen
- To start recording, tap the Screen Recording icon. A three-second countdown will then begin.
- Close the Control Centre menu. The app will now record what happens on your screen, including sound. Some apps won’t allow the recording of audio and/or video.
- To stop recording, open the Control Centre and press the Screen Recording icon again.
Viewing and editing your video
Once you are done recording your screen, the resulting video can be viewed and edited.
- Open the Photos app and tap on the Camera Roll option.
- Press Edit in the top-right corner.
- Watch the video by pressing Play. The arrows on the timeline will let you trim the video to your desired length.
- When you are finished, press Done and save as New Clip.
Sharing a video
You now have your complete screen recording. It can then be shared with contacts or via apps.
- Open the video and press the Share option; this resembles a blue box and arrow.
- Select your contact or app to share it with
