Introducing Apple TV+
Announced during Apple's March keynote event, Apple TV+ is the manufacturer's first venture into the world of online video streaming. Discover everything you need to know about the service, from pricing and worldwide availability to a list of Apple's most hotly anticipated shows, below.
What is Apple TV+?
Apple TV+ is an online video streaming service, where you'll be able to watch a selection of films, TV shows and documentaries created exclusively for Apple. It's the first streaming service to solely show original content, and no other platforms - including rivals like Netflix or Amazon price - will be able to offer the same entertainment.
Shows will be available to watch both online and offline on Apple devices, and over time more and more titles will be added to Apple TV+.
When will Apple TV+ available?
Apple TV+ will officially launch, worldwide, on November 1st 2019. Upon its release, it will be available in over 100 countries, including the United Kingdom, United States and Australia.
Even better, Apple TV+ will be completely ad-free, so you can stream as you please without interruption.
How much is Apple TV+?
Apple TV+ will cost £4.99 a month and up to six family members can view content with one subscription thanks to Apple's Family Sharing.
Everyone is invited to enjoy a 7-day free trial, and if you buy a new iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple TV, you can get a year's subscription to Apple TV+ for free.
Where can I view Apple TV+?
Apple TV+ is available on any device, using any browser, at tv.apple.com.
You'll also be able to access Apple TV+ via the Apple TV app which is available on any Apple device. Smart TVs and popular streaming sticks are expected to offer the Apple TV app in the near future.
If you have an iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Apple TV or Mac, you'll be able to download content from Apple TV+, meaning you can view it anywhere, anytime offline.
Apple Originals to watch
Bringing together some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, the first wave of Apple TV+ content explores a wide range of genres, and features something for just about everyone.
Below, you'll find a handful of Apple Originals that will be ready and waiting for you from November 1st 2019.
The Morning Show
Starring Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carrell, The Morning Show is set to explore dynamics in the workplace, in particular the media landscape. The show begins by following Alex Levy (Aniston) and Mitch Kessler (Carrell) during their time as co-anchors on one of the biggest daytime programmes in America - The Morning Show.
The Morning Show is set to be one of the leading shows on Apple TV+, attracting plenty of interest before the streaming service had even launched.
Dickinson
Despite being set in the 19th century, Dickinson is anything but your stereotypical period drama. A coming-of-age comedy focused on the life of poet Emily Dickinson, the show explores the constraints of society, faced by the writer as she tries to make her voice heard.
While we are travelling back to the 1800s, the overall tone of the show is surprisingly modern.
See
Directed by Francis Lawrence and starring Jason Momoa, Sylvia Hoeks and Alfre Woodard, See is a post-apocalyptic drama that's sure to have you gripping the edge of your seat.
See is set 600 years into the future, long after a deadly virus almost destroys all of mankind. Any remaining survivors are permanently blind, and sight is something many begin to question was even a thing. See follows Tribal King Baba Voss (Momoa) and his wife Queen Kane (Sylvia Hoeks) who is pregnant with two children. Both children are born with the gift of sight, and life as the King and Queen know it completely changes.
Snoopy in Space
Something for younger viewers, Snoopy in Space is one of many titles to be released on Apple TV+ tailored towards children.
The show follows Snoopy as he pursues his dreams of becoming an astronaut. Bringing Woodstock, Peanuts and the gang along, Snoopy takes an exciting trip to NASA, and during their visit he’s selected to take part in an elite mission that'll blast them off into space.
