Unlike the foldable devices of previous years, today’s flip phones feature foldable touchscreens which span edge-to-edge on the inside of the device. They also mostly feature an external display once closed, for updates and notifications at a glance.
There are two main designs to choose from. Flip-style phones, or ‘clamshell’ devices, are the size of a regular smartphone and fold into a smaller square. The larger foldable ‘book-style’ devices open to double the usual size, for a tablet-like experience.
